I have had the great pleasure of meeting Dr Lee and Dr Anna Ferguson as a guest in their house because I was scouring the internet with information about Transcendental Meditation (TM) practitioners, meetings and refresher courses. I used the video above in my addiction epidemic workshop because I was impressed that part of Oprah’s success is regular practice of meditation when she was running Harpo Productions.
I wrote in my book: Kill Your Addiction Before It Kills that I have been exposed to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and the TM practice since I was a kid. I started to miss communing with other TM practitioners so I did an extensive search about TM Gold coast and was so pleased to see that there are TM teachers just 30 minutes from where I am.
This research happened after I did a workshop about Addiction and the addiction epidemic at Volunteering Gold Coast because I spoke about TM and we did a group meditation with 25 participants. I emphasised meditation as a great tool for wellness.
I struggled a lot with putting meditation in the actual workshop because it was about addiction but my heart has been wanting to for the last two years. Since it was my third year presenting this workshop and I have been strong in my meditation practice, I thought to be brave and put it in.
The results were fantastic, a radio interview ensued out of the workshop because one of the attendees was a volunteer in our local community radio station, Juice 107.3 and already one person signed up for the course and paid in full.
It was also a catalyst to search for TM teachers and other like-minded TM meditators which lead me to Dr Lee and Dr Anna’s place in Willow Vale. It was a great experience to be offered a place in their TM course with 4 other new meditators. Dr Lee also offered me the chance to attend the Annual Summer TM Retreat of which I rushed to attend, along with learning the first part of the four advanced TM techniques by long-time Vedic Scientists Mr and Mrs Kumar.
